The need for craftsmen is pressing in the construction industry in Cyprus

The huge need for craftsmen in the construction industry in Cyprus has been underlined during a public discussion in Nicosia. According to ANAD's forecasts for the decade 2022 - 2032, the number of vacancies for skilled craftsmen is more than 1000 every year. This issue in combination with the labour employment policy for third-country nationals and vocational training programs was the focus of the closing event of the Erasmus Mitrust project “Implementation of innovative digital tools for migrant construction training".

AKMI hosted with great success a 5-day seminar in Athens focusing on the learning and training deliverables of the Erasmus project.
The seminar took place between 4 – 8 September 2023 at the premises of AKMI in Keramikos area.
MiTrust partners gathered VET providers and trainers to exchange views on the program, and examined the training materials thoroughly.

The MITRUST project has developed the Narrative Document for the identification of linguistic objectives of deliverable PR1.
After conducting Desk Research and gathering data from Construction Sector Professionals and Third Country Nationals across all four countries, the MITRUST project has concluded that the main need was to have a good command of the local language. In accordance with that, the identification of the Learning objectives will provide the base on which the learning course will be planned and designed.

The MiTrust partners had a productive 3rd Transnational Project Meeting on the 6th of June 2023 in Ankara, Turkey, and Ankey Consulting had the pleasure to host the meeting in their quarters. Different aspects of the project have been discussed, such as the finalization of the E-Learning platform, the development of the soft skills curricula for migrants, the Construction Pedia, and of the Self-assessment tools. In addition, the partners discussed their following steps and deadlines for the following months have been set.
